I wish I could say that this was a pregnancy thing, ok it’s gotten a little worse since being pregnant with my moods being linked a lot to when the last time I ate was, but I think if you asked Jack I was like this before too! One of my favourite things to watch is Masterchef USA- you would think with all these cooking shows I watch I’d be a whizz in the kitchen. Hmmm…. I can make a delicious salmon en croute thanks to Merry Berry but I’m no culinary genius… yet! The only difference in my food habits now is that I’m starting to not be able to eat a lot at tea time and finding it easier to have a more filling lunch so when Jack suggested we go out for lunch, I obviously jumped at the chance.
We travelled just a few short miles into the countryside to discover Upton Smokery. It specialises in smoked meat, fish and poultry in a converted barn on their family run farm. It’s quirky and idilic set up had me sold before I even sat down.
Mr C enjoying his latte whilst I opted for an ice cold glass of fresh orange juice.
I love that we were the first to arrive and got to have the whole place to ourself and tuck into the buffet style dining before it started to get busier. The chef talked us through each different thing on offer and he wasn’t wrong the pulled pork was heavenly!
He was even kind enough to let me go behind the counter to get a closer shot.
The heat was unbelievable. Hats off to him for standing in front of it cooking for so long!
So much healthy, fresh goodness to fill our bellies with!
Following a spectacular pudding of cheesecake which I ate so fast and forgot to capture a picture, oh well! A reason to go back for another visit! We headed over to their farm shop just a few meters from where we ate.
I left with a well and truly full belly! I just love finding new delicious favourite spots for us to eat at. Please do let me know of any unique spots in the Cotswolds that you know of for us to explore.
